Хуану назначили нового крю-чифа!

Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates объявила вчера о смене крю-чифа экипажа № 42 Target Chevrolet, которым управляет Хуан-Пабло Монтойя. C этого момента временным крю-чифом назначен Джим Полман (Jim Pohlman). Работая в команде с 2006 года, Джим занимал самые разные должности.

«Мы рады тому, что Джим вырос до такого уровня, чтобы теперь занимать должность крю-чифа. Джим был с нами много лет и у меня есть уверенность в его силах. Он сможет вытащить №42 из той задницы, в которую попал экипаж после Гемпшира», — сказал владелец команды Чип Ганасси.

В воскресной гонке Дайтона-500 команда #42 взяла награду Tissot Pit Road Precision Award. Как оказалось, машина #42 Target Chevrolet провела на пит-роад по времени меньше всех остальных. Так что команда внесла реальный вклад в попадание Хуана в ТОП-10.

The Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup: Juan Pablo Montoya and the Target team finished out the 2009 season in eighth place in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup championship. This marks the first time Montoya and the Target team have made a trip to the year-end awards ceremony in Las Vegas. An on-track collision with Tony Stewart resulted in a 38th-place finish at the season finale in Homestead. The finish bumped Montoya down two positions from sixth.

Target Team Pit Crew Awarded for their Performance

LOS ANGELES (October 16, 2009) – Juan Pablo Montoya’s No. 42 Target Chevrolet pit crew has proven that they have the speed, power and performance to help their driver earn a spot in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup and to run at the front of the field. The team is now in third place in the Chase standings with six races to go, and has earned two poles, six top-fives and 16 top-10 finishes so far this year.

Through the four Chase races, Montoya is the only driver to finish in the top-five in all of them. In addition, his California finish helped him maintain third place in the point standings. Charlotte, N.C. — Felix Sabates pulled me over shortly before the July Sprint Cup race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and predicted Juan Pablo Montoya would win. He was a speeding penalty on pit road from being right.

So it came as no surprise this week when the minority owner of Earnhardt Ganassi Racing made an even bigger prophecy.

The No. 42 Target Chevrolet of Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates made an appearance on Tuesday, August 11 at the Grand Opening of Target’s newest Distribution Center located in Newton, N.C. With only two races remaining before the Sprint Cup Series “Chase for the Cup” cutoff, the No. 42 Target Team led by driver Juan Pablo Montoya and Crew Chief Brian Pattie sits ninth (inside the coveted Top-12) in the NSCS standings. They are now 64 points in front of 13th position and just 20 points out of seventh. Just 89 points separates 7th through 14th position in the standings.
