Dover, Del (September 28, 2009) – The No. 42 Polaroid team continued their quest for the NASCAR Sprint Cup at Dover International Speedway. In just the second race of the Chase, Montoya qualified on the outside pole and ran up in the top-five for the majority of the 400-lap race. The fourth place finish gave the team back-to-back top-five finishes and has elevated Montoya up one more position to third in the championship point standings.

The Polaroid team took a brand new chassis to Dover and as soon as the Polaroid Chevrolet hit the track the times were fast. Montoya was the third fastest car in the initial session followed by two second place runs in the remaining sessions. The number two appeared to be the lucky number as Montoya placed the No. 42 Polaroid Chevrolet in the second position for the start of the AAA 400 on Sunday.

The fast laps times and speeds would continue over into Sunday. Montoya was a top-five contender the entire race. Crew chief Brian Pattie would frequently radio to his driver that his lap times were the fastest out on the race track. A total of six pit stops were made throughout the race for minor adjustments, tires and fuel. In 400 laps, the Polaroid team ran only 18 laps out of the top-five however never falling below ninth.

«We really do enjoy coming to Dover. We have just always had problems here in the past. To come here and have a clean day is huge,” Montoya remarked. «It was a pretty good day. The Polaroid Chevy actually worked pretty well today. We just got a little tight there at the end. Overall it was good. Another top-five and I had a pretty cool fight there with the No. 2 car.»

Montoya has moved up to the third position in the point standings. With eight races remaining, he sits 65 points behind points leader Mark Martin and has a 124 points lead over the 12th position.

The next race will take place at Kansas Speedway on Sunday, Oct. 4 at 1:00 pm (EST). The Price Chopper 400 will air live on ABC and radio stations affiliated with MRN radio.
