Juan Pablo Montoya and No. 42 Target Team
On the hood: After showcasing the TUMS Dual Action paint scheme last weekend at Talladega, the No. 42 Chevrolet will return to its normal red and white paint scheme with the Target Bullseye adorning the hood.
Montoya at Richmond: Montoya has four previous starts at Richmond International Raceway with a best finish of 26th in spring 2007. His best start came in the spring race last year when the No. 42 car took the green flag in sixth-place.
Last weekend: Juan Pablo Montoya had one of the strongest cars in the 43-car field at Talladega Superspeedway. Montoya earned his first NSCS Pole Award Saturday in the No. 42 TUMS Dual Action Chevrolet and was a race contender before a multi-car incident ruined his chances with just nine laps to go. Despite running up front for most of the race, Montoya drove his Chevy to a 20th-place finish.
In the Points: Montoya stands 15th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup driver standings, tied with Dale Earnhardt Jr. He is 281 points behind leader Kurt Busch and just 45 points out of 12th, the cutoff for the Chase.
Rev the Vote: Voting is underway for the 2009 Sprint All-Star Race at Lowes Motor Speedway, and Juan Pablo Montoya wants your vote! By logging on to nascar.com, texting “NASCAR” to “7777” on a Sprint phone or visiting your nearest Sprint retail store, you can vote Montoya and the No. 42 Target team into the race. Voting continues through May 16th and votes are unlimited, so be sure to keep voting!
Chevy Fast Fact: Chevy and GM still need to sell cars and trucks, and programs tied to racing provide the opportunity to put consumers face-to-face with products to help familiarize them with their quality, value, styling and other attributes.
No. 42 Target Chevrolet (NSCS): Chassis #817. This will be the second event of the year for chassis #817. This chassis was last used for this year’s Goody’s Fast Pain Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway, where Montoya raced to a 12th-place finish.
No. 1 Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats Chevrolet (NSCS): Chassis #074 Crew Chief Kevin “Bono” Manion has elected to bring Chassis number #078 to Richmond this weekend. This chassis was last used by Bono and gang for the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway to bring home a seventh place finish. Truex started this event 26th and had moved up 14 positions by lap 50.
