Atlanta (Hampton, GA). Дождь смыл квалификацию в 10й раз в этом сезоне

For the tenth time this season and third straight week NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying was rained out when wet weather forced officials to pull the plug Friday at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

The rainout means Sunday’s Pep Boys Auto 500 will be set by owners’ points putting series leader Jimmie Johnson on the pole. The defending race winner will once again start from the number one position but have the first pit stall for Sunday’s race.

Greg Biffle will start outside the front row with the remaining ten drivers in the Chase field filling out the next five rows.

Rain and finally a light mist and fog thwarted the efforts to dry the track which was open for a brief eight minute Cup practice session.

The washout will keep Bryan Clauson and Joey Logano from attemtping to qualify their way into Sunday’s race.

The good news is the forecast for the weekend improves dramatically with Saturday calling for clear skies and temperatures in the 70s. Two Sprint Cup Series practices are scheduled as is truck series qualifying for the afternoon’s E-Z-Go 200.
