Brian Pattie returns to lead Juan Pablo Montoya and the No.42 team in the 2009 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS). Pattie stepped into the full-time role of NSCS crew chief for the first time last year for 25 races. In that time he amassed one top-five, two top-10, and four top-15 finishes. Now, Pattie and Montoya not only have their eyes set on bettering that record but also on Victory Lane. Pattie is well known in the garage area as one of the most talented and mechanically-inclined crew chiefs in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS). In fact, during his relatively short tenure working in the NNS ranks, Pattie has racked up 19 poles and 18 wins calling the shots for some of the sport’s top drivers.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Brumos Porsche team took the Rolex 24 on Sunday to end Chip Ganassi Racing's Daytona winning streak at three races as David Donohue matched his late father's victory here 40 years ago. Donohue held on for the win after passing NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya for the lead just 41 minutes from the finish.

Sirius Speedway has learned that DEI-Ganassi Racing is making a serious push to add another sponsor to its lineup, in an effort to avoid the possible loss of driver Martin Truex, Jr., and sponsor, Bass Pro Shops. Language in the contracts of both Truex and Bass Pro Shops reportedly requires DEI to field at least two fulltime teammates for Truex next season, and with only Aric Almirola’s unsponsored #8 car likely to return, sources say DEI had little choice but to merge with Ganassi, in an effort to retain their only funded driver. The merged DEI-Ganassi stable now includes Truex’s Bass Pro Shops-sponsored #1, Juan Pablo Montoya’s #42 with partial sponsorship from Wrigley’s, the #41 car with Target sponsorship, and Almirola’s unsponsored #8. Sources say the team made a major push recently to upgrade Fastenal’s NASCAR Nationwide Series sponsorship to a Sprint Cup deal, but were left high and dry when Fastenal declined the offer in order to begin discussions with another major NASCAR team.

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Chip Ganassi Racing’s Juan Pablo Montoya will not be allowed to use one of Dodge’s spots in the 2009 Budweiser Shootout if the new Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing team switches to Chevrolet.
According to the new rules, the top six teams from each manufacturer from the previous year qualify for the Shootout. When the new rules were announced in August, NASCAR officials said the issue of teams switching manufacturers in the offseason still needed to be worked out. While Earnhardt-Ganassi officials say they have not finalized a manufacturer, NASCAR Vice President of Operations Steve O’Donnell said Saturday morning that the teams will use their points from the previous year but their manufacturer of the current year to determine berths in the preseason event that comes eight days prior to the Daytona 500.

Монтойя ожидает, что объединение команд позволит им собрать больше данных. «Я думаю это хорошо для всех», - приводит слова Монтойи autosport.com «Это сделает нас сильнее и как команду и как компанию в целом. Я в предвкушении, я очень этого жду. Я думаю Мартин Трюэкс и все в команде могут очень многое дать нам. Мы вместе сможем получить значительно больше информации и это сделает нашу команду очень сильной».
